Typologies

4.2.1

Step 1

Select the “Zone Tool” and pick the “Actually Typology” Favourite.

Step 2

Model the Typology Zones to encompass all Spaces and model Elements within a building type.

Step 3

Ensure “Typologies” from the “Zone Category” drop-down menu is selected.

Select the desired Typology “Name” from the drop-down menu, under “Zone Name and Number”.

4.2.2

Nodes

Step 1

Draw 300mm diameter circles at each Node, where one Typology joins another.

Step 2

Open the “Zone Tool” and select a “Typology”.

Step 3

Use the Magic Wand Tool to remove areas of the Typology from within the circles. This guarantees correct Element allocation.

Do this process for all Conditioned and Unconditioned Typologies.

4.2.3

Overlaps

In Archicad if a Zone stops at a wall, it won’t be included in the model. Ensure the Zones overlap slightly beyond the Wall border, but not so much that the Typologies overlap.

10-20mm Zone overlap for each Typology into the Walls is sufficient.
