Spaces and Typologies

5.1.1

Modelled Elements and Components need to be identified in Actually using a unique Element ID.

IDs of Elements and Components can be changed using the sixth icon (Element ID Manager) on the Actually Toolbar.

Step 1

Select the correct “Element Type” from the drop-down menu.

Step 2

Select “Unique ID for Each Element” to give each Element a Unique ID.

Step 3

Click the “ID Format” tab.

Ensure the boxes are formatted correctly, as below:

Set the fourth column to:

Number of Characters: 2
Type: Counter
ID components: 01

Set the third column to:

Number of Characters: 4
Type: Text
ID components: XX

Note: for the third column ID components ensure a helpful prefix is used. For example Typologies can be "TY", Exterior Walls can be "EW", Ceiling can be "CE".

Step 4

Click “Change IDs”.

Repeat this process for Typologies and Spaces giving each a unique prefix.

Note: Element IDs can also be changed by manually entering the correct ID into the “ID and Properties” box in the toolbar at the top.

Note: For Unconditioned Typologies, such as the garage, a suffix of “G” should be added to all the Elements related to this Typology so these Elements can be identified later.
